4 Week Class Series - Creating a Functional, Supportive Home to "Live in Place"
(Mary Beth Nienhaus Activity Center/formerly TCOL)
Whether you’ve lived in your home for 30+ years or just moved into a new place and want it to finally feel like home, this class series is for you! If you're ready to make your home work better for the life you're living now, we’ll walk through simple, practical ways to create a home that supports your daily routines, activities, and well-being—so you can spend more time doing what you love and less time managing your space.
Each week builds on the next, with helpful homework to guide real changes at home. This isn’t about perfection—it’s about making your home work better for you. Maybe that means clearing off the dining table so you can host your grandkids for "Pizza Night," or setting up a cozy corner for reading and morning coffee. It’s about truly living in your home—what I like to call Living in Place. Here’s what we’ll cover each week:
Week 1: Function with Purpose – Set the Stage for Living in Place
- Learn about the 10 themes of “Living in Place” and discover how to bring more fun and function into your home.
- Set up easy systems to make everyday tasks like housekeeping, meal prep, or laundry simpler—so you have more time and energy for the things you enjoy (like visiting the Thompson Center/Mary Beth Nienhaus Activity Center).
- Let go of things and activities that no longer reflect your values, and learn simple ways to highlight your favorite items while thoughtfully letting go or passing along what you no longer need.
- Build a simple, personalized plan to keep your home working for you—now and into the future.

Where: Mary Beth Nienhaus Activity Center 3000 E. College Avenue, Appleton, WI
